In your search of finding answers to fill your thirty-one year memory gap you reunite with Shira, the scientist who saved your life. Additionally there are also the Altered: people who survived the Anomaly’s storm but got infected, granting them with supernatural powers. Remaining colonists are fighting a massive war against the ECA soldiers known as the Insurgents. The colonization failed and the Anomaly’s heavy energy storm has destroyed all high-tech equipment. When you awake thirty-one years later you find yourself in a dark and oppressed world. As one of the last standing Outriders surviving the Anomaly, you are being put in cryostasis by a scientist in an attempt to save your life after suffering lethal wounds from the attack. As they set foot they quickly notice something is amiss: an Anomaly has a strong grip on the planet and infects and kills everyone that gets caught by its deadly energy storm.Īs the Outriders try to warn the ECA to abort the colonization they are silenced by ECA forces so that the colonization can continue as planned. They are known as the Outriders and are tasked to retrieve data collected by probes to better understand the planet’s environment before starting the colonization. Upon arrival a small group of people are sent out to scout the planet. Eventually only one ship makes it to the planet’s atmosphere. This urges world leaders to organize a major undertaking: being capable of long-distance spaceflight, a newly formed government organization ECA (Enoch Colonization Authority) builds two colony ships in a final attempt to save mankind and transport 500 thousand people to colonize Enoch, a distant Earth-like planet.
Outriders tells a story about our blue planet failing to sustain life as a result of humanity depleting all of its natural resources and climate change going beyond mankind’s ability to mitigate its impact.
